SRC Level 5 Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy students found their craniums tested as they competed in the Big Event.
The Big Idea is a project funded by Invest NI to help educate students on coming up with new ideas and developing their business ideas. Experts from the business world gave up their time to talk to students and give them advice on how to get ideas flowing, how to get funding for their idea and take their idea to market.
Martin Patterson from Newry and Mourne District Council and Liam Quinn from WIN in Newry were the expert judges for the day and commented on the enthusiasm and quality of ideas that the teams were producing.
The students worked in teams to think of entrepreneurial ideas they could use to start of new businesses in the hairdressing and beauty industry.
The winning teams on the day are now taking their idea of wig making to the Northern Ireland heats of the competition. Here the team will get the opportunity to win up to £8,000 to develop their idea.
The event was hailed as a great success and another excellent opportunity for students studying with SRC.
