The Inter-Campus competition, held at SRC's Greenbank campus in Newry, was the first stage of the renowned Skillbuild Competition, and drew together students from all campuses of SRC. The Skillbuild competition is the largest multi-trade competition in the UK for young students and apprentices. It covers crafts including carpentry, joinery, bricklaying and plastering.
Nineteen skills competitions took place on the day with industry experts judging the work and skills of the students
Banbridge student, Ryan Adair, won first prize in the Electrical Installation section, and fellow Banbridge man Norbert Papp won the Carpentry section. Ryan studies Electrotechnical Technology in SRC's Greenbank campus, while Norbert is a student in Bench Joinery at the Portadown campus
Ryan O'Gorman, won first place in the Painting and Decorating section, John Morgan won the Tiling category and Mindaugis Kriciala won first place in the Cabinet Making section. All three students study at SRC's Greenbank campus in Newry.
Kilkeel student, Alexander Gordon, won first place in the Joinery section and Castlewellan student Niall McKibben won first place in the Plastering section. Alexander studied Site Carpentry in SRC's Greenbank and Kilkeel campuses and Niall studies Plastering in the Greenbank campus.
Portadown student, Dean McCreery, won first place in the Brickwork section. Dean studies Level 2 Brickwork in SRC's Portadown campus.
Ballyward student, John Herron, won first place in the Industrial Heating section, Hilltown student Shane Branagan won the Plumbing Pipework category and Kilcoo student Brendan McCusker won first place in the Lead Sheetwork section. All three students study Plumbing studies at SRC's Greenbank campus.
