Undergraduate Building Challenge

Undergraduate Building Challenge The beginning of the February saw Southern Regional College's Portadown campus host the CIOB Challenge. This undergraduate competition organised by the Chartered Institute of Building saw five different teams complete in the Northern Ireland divisional heats.

Each team was given a scenario which involved retrofit of a domestic dwelling which they developed into a costed proposal using the services of three expert consultants from Building Control, Xtratherm and NHBC.

The winners were the Letterkenny Institute of Technology who go forward to the National finals with the Southern Regional College team finishing a respectable third and winning a cash prize.
