Matt Johnston of Digital Circle recently dropped by Southern Regional College's Portadown campus to view the work of the first and second years students on the Extended Diploma in Games Development and share pearls of wisdom with them of his life in the ICT world.
Digital Circle is the representative organisation for digital content businesses in Northern Ireland and aims to promote the digital content sector both within and outside of the province. Digital Circle is part of Momentum - the Northern Ireland ICT Federation, and is funded by InvestNI under the European Regional Development Fund.
Guest speaker Matt Johnston describes himself as a networker, advisor, encourager and promoter. He gave a challenging and inspiring talk to students who he strongly advised to start creating games straight away and in their own time. He said that the need to build a portfolio of achievements outside the classroom was absolutely crucial to demonstrating skills to potential employers.
After his talk Matt spent further time with students during a question and answer session discussing diverse topics from mobile games development to start-up funding for new games companies.
