It is important that Newry and Mourne District Council track the opinions of its citizens to its services/functions on a regular basis. In order to facilitate this research the Council are working in partnership with HND Year One Business students at Southern Regional College Newry who are going to design and administer a citizen satisfaction survey within the Newry and Mourne District.
The students are required to develop and administer a questionnaire in the Newry and Mourne area in order to ascertain the views of the locality regarding direct Council services. The aim of the survey is to measure
- usage of facilities
- awareness of services provided
- awareness of Councillors
- satisfaction with facilities and services and communication mechanisms
- suggested improvements
The students will be required to administer 400 personal surveys spread across the 5 district electoral areas of The Fews, Slieve Gullion, Newry Town, Crotlieve and The Mournes reflecting their population size.
The first stage of the research project has been completed. The HND Business students were required to submit a customer satisfaction survey to their lecturers, the lecturers then selected the best questionnaire from a competitive pool of entries. The winning student was Louise Mc Govern and her questionnaire will be used to carry out the Newry and Mourne District Council survey. Louise was presented with a prize by Marie Reilly, The Head of School for Business and Computing.
