Southern Regional College has four main learning centres within the community

The Community Learning Centre is one of the best resourced learning centres in the Craigavon area and is at the heart of SRC's community learning strategy. Education programmes are designed and delivered through an extensive network of statutory, voluntary and community partners. Staff and students at the centre have won many awards for their innovative teaching and successful learning outcomes.

The centre has an enviable record in delivering ICT programmes and offers the complete suite of OCR programmes, BCS and Computer Accounts. Many of the vocational and non-vocational learning programmes provided by the centre are offered at nearby community centres.

Chrysalis Women's Centre, Craigavon

The centre is open to women and children Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm. It provides access to vocational and non-vocational education and training for adults. It has two well equipped computer suites and provides free access to the internet. A number of qualified tutors offer accredited and non-accredited ICT training each morning from 10am to 1pm. Other courses on offer are cookery, crafts, health education and assertiveness training. An Essential Skills programme is available free of cost to students.

On entry students can expect an initial assessment and support to develop an agreed personal learning programme. The centre has a number of comfortable meeting spaces for small group work. These can be accessed by outside groups by prior arrangement. Chrysalis also works with other local agencies to provide access to a community development education programme. Details of such partnership work can be found in the centre's publicity leaflet which is distributed locally at the beginning of each term.
Free childcare support is available for students engaged in all education and training programmes in the centre.

Drumellan Family Learning Complex, Craigavon

The centre is open Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 9pm and Friday from 9.30am to 4pm. It provides access to both vocational and non-vocational education and training for adults. It has a well equipped computer suite and a comfortable training room capable of seating groups of 30. Qualified tutors provide accredited and non-accredited ICT training 3 days a week. A programme of activities is published each term.

Activities vary in line with demand, but typically include cookery, crafts and keep fit. The centre works with other local providers to ensure opportunities for progression and wider participation are made available locally. Details can be found in the centre's publicity leaflet which is distributed locally at the beginning of each term.

A separate, well-resourced childcare provision is managed by the project in an adjacent space. For details on availability and times, please contact the centre.

WALD Centre, Cullyhanna

The WALD Centre in Cullyhanna is a hive of activity with computer classes from beginners to Internet and Email courses. It also runs Internet classes for parents and web page design. Also at the centre you can study French, Healthy Cooking and of course FREE Maths and English Essential Skills classes.

E-Learning Centre

Southern Regional College has an e-learning centre which provides flexible access to a wide range of e-learning courses. Conveniently located in the Learning Resource Centre of the Portadown Campus, it provides a modern, well-equipped and informal learning environment offering tuition in the following areas:

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

  • Our innovative English Language Learning Instruction System (ELLIS) provides flexible English tuition for Speakers of Other Languages
  • City and Guilds ESOL Qualifications are available at 5 Levels
  • Cambridge First Certificate (ESOL) is available at Level 1
  • IELTS Advanced English is available at Level 2
  • Advanced ESOL Classes - On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. ESOL Assessment - (Prior to enrolling on an ESOL class it is essential to ensure that you are working at the correct level for your Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening ability). The centre offers a FREE ESOL Initial Assessment which lasts 30 minutes.

A specialist tutor is available to support ESOL learners with their computer-based English courses.

Information Technology /Computing Courses

The centre offers flexible online tuition via our unique online training programmes:
Learn IT - This course covers Basic IT/File Management, Internet & Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and is FREE to enrol onto. An assessment is required to ensure you have the necessary ICT skills to join this course.
Beginners Computing - this includes Internet and Email basics and beginner keyboarding skills

  • PowerPoint Presentations
  • Introduction to PC including - Computing Basics such as Internet and Email
