The Volleyball Academy was established to develop and enhance opportunities for potential elite performers both regionally and nationally but it also encourages the uptake of volleyball among those with little or no experience. Students are able to attend the academy alongside their main course of study and on Wednesday afternoons develop their full potential and achieve coaching qualifications and gain experience in this area. The teams have availed of Leonardo da Vinci funding for four years now which has seen them go to Malta and Italy to enhance their vocational skills and experience in international training systems at elite facilities. The academy has resulted in a high degree of success at Ulster and All-Ireland level which has included 18 trophies over 8 years which include Northern Ireland Schools League and Cup and All-Ireland Cup.
