InterACT Programme

Inter-ACT is a programme that offers support to local businesses with an identified development need, if this need matches curriculum specifications. Students carry out the development work as part of their course assignments and benefit from getting hands on experience working with real organisational problems. The programme:-

• Provides support and resources for staff to aid embedment of entrepreneurship within the academic curriculum.
• Provides encouragement for a spirit of enterprise among the staff and students of the Southern Regional College.
• Provides opportunities for staff development i.e. Entrepreneurship Awareness and Entrepreneurship applied programmes.
• Supports the delivery of relevant, challenging and engaging learning experiences by introducing staff and students to real business issues and business people.

Practice Firms Programme

The Practice Firm is an exciting new pilot programme supported by the N.I Ireland Executive.  The Practice Firm is designed to equip 45 people with entrepreneurial business skills combined with personal development. The benefit of the Practice Firm is the creation of 5 unique virtual firms through which students will effectively run and will be assisted by a Mentor Company.

The programme is targeted towards:

• Economically unemployed persons.
• Persons living within one of the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Armagh, Brownlow, Lurgan, Newry or Portadown
Persons living in a household with a total income less than £21,330.00

The Practice Firm is free to Participants and will not effect benefits. Each of the 5 Practice Firms will operate from a Business Park within the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas.

Places are limited to 9 students per Practice Firm. Completion of the Practice Firm project can lead to a range of opportunities including business start-up, progression into employment or other training / pre-start up programmes.
