*Returning to Campus Update*

We look forward to welcoming all our new and returning students to the College for the 2020/21 academic year. In light of COVID-19 we have implemented a number of changes to protect the health and wellbeing of everyone at the College. It is important that we respect and adhere to these new measures. Please practise social distancing and follow the one way traffic system around campus. We also encourage students and staff to wear face coverings in public spaces and to use hand sanitiser available at stations around each campus.

Pre Employment Support

Pre Employment Support

The Business Support & Innovation Centre at Southern Regional College can offer Pre Employment Support via the following funded programmes:

Bridge to Employment

The Bridge to Employment programme provides customised training delivered by Southern Regional College to unemployed people to give them the skills necessary to compete for new employment opportunities. The programmes are run in response to employers with job vacancies so the training is tailored to meet the skills needed for that job. The programme’s main objective is to provide customised training to equip unemployed, and in particular long term unemployed people, with the skills necessary to compete for new employment opportunities on an equal basis with others.

Assured Skills

The Assured Skills Programme is a joint initiative between the Department for the Economy (DfE) Northern Ireland and Invest Northern Ireland. The Assured Skills Programme provides funding to Companies to develop pre-employment training programmes with Southern Regional College to recruit employees. These bespoke training academies ensure that those who graduate are 'job ready' to work in the Company.

Benefits of Assured Skills;

The Assured Skills academy model benefits both employers and participants:

  • It provides employers with an opportunity to see the suitability of participants whilst assessing them as potential employees.
  • The academy also provides the participant with an insight to the work of their potential employer, whilst learning new transferable skills.
  • If the participant of the academy is unsuccessful in gaining employment with an employer, they will have gained additional skills that are recognised within the various sectors in Northern Ireland.
