The Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy provides learners
with the knowledge and skills needed to be able to provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/post-acute injuries or underlying pathological conditions.

This course will be of particular interest if you are a fitness professional or medical professional wishing to broaden your skills to enable you to perform sports massage therapy with adults.


There are no formal entry requirements but an interest in this subject area is required.

There is an element of communication involved (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and learners should have basic skills in communication at Level 3.  Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out.

  • Sports massage treatments


2 evenings a week for 30 weeks


Successful achievement of the qualification will allow you to gain direct employment or alternatively become self-employed. This course enables you to progression to other related courses such as; Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork or Level 4 Diploma in Sport & Exercise Massage.

Concession Fees may be available to students enrolling on Further Education courses who are in receipt of any of the following benefits: Universal Credit (net income below £14,000) Guaranteed Pension Credit / Housing Benefit (Rates Rebate) or Rate Relief/ Working Tax Credit (where household income is £16,190 or below/ In-come based Employment and Support Allowance Income Support/ In-come based Jobseekers Allowance/ Republic of Ireland means tested benefit. All exam/material fees must be paid in addition to the concession fee.

Registration, materials and certificate fees (subject to charge by the awarding body) are payable where shown at enrolment. All courses are subject to satisfactory enrolment numbers being achieved and sustained throughout the year. A student will be offered a refund of fees where a course is cancelled by the College or where a student does not attend their course of study. However, a £20 administrative fee will be imposed on a student who is unable to attend a course and does not give the College a minimum of 5 working days' notice before the course commences. A refund is not available to anyone who leaves a course after making one or more attendances.
