LATERAL FLOW DEVICE TESTING NOW IN OPERATION!

ON-SITE DELIVERY

From Monday 10th May the College returned to course delivery, assessment and examination arrangements that operated from the start of the academic year. This easement in restrictions follows the NI Executive’s decision to trigger Stage 2 on the Roadmap to Recovery for Further Education Colleges and the introduction of lateral flow testing for staff and students. All current College Covid 19 safety measures will remain in place including the mandatory wearing of face coverings. Thank you for helping to keep our College safe.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Learning Resource Centres are open for students unable to access online lessons from home. Student Services and limited canteen facilities are also available. Student queries should be directed to Course Co-ordinators. General queries should be emailed to info@src.ac.uk

OVERVIEW

We are currently experiencing a high demand for this course and new applicants will therefore be added to a waiting list. Please consider submitting an application for another relevant course.

This course will enable you to gain a recognised qualification to work as an electrician installing systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment within the electrotechnical industry. You will need to be good with your hands and be able to work well as part of a team. You will cover a wide variety of units which cover everything from health and safety legislation, practices and procedures, to the installation of electrical circuits, systems and equipment. You will also learn about maintaining electrical systems and equipment and the relevant procedures.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

  • Have achieved 15 points or greater at GCSE level consisting of at least 4 GCSE at Grade C, or equivalent qualification profile;
  • Have achieved at least a Grade C in GCSE English and mathematics;
  • Be physically fit, free from colour blindness, able to work at heights and in confined spaces, (written verification will be required from your Doctor and Optician);
  • Have attained the minimum school leaving age;
  • Have secured employment with a Northern Ireland-based company to work a minimum of 21 hours per week (either as an existing employee in the new job role or about to take up a position with a permanent remunerative employment offer).
  • Have the potential to successfully complete all the requirements of the appropriate Level 3 apprenticeship framework.

1- 4 years depending on how many levels you want to progress through

PROGRESSION

You may progress through the levels and then to higher education. Alternatively you may go straight into full-time employment or become self-employed.
