SRC Awarded Three Prestigious Charter Marks

 Southern Regional College is delighted to announce the achievement of three Charter Marks for quality standards in regard to support for those with visual and hearing impairment and for the College's exceptional careers education, information, advice and guidance service.

SRC is delighted to be the first college in Northern Ireland to receive both the 'RNIB Model of Excellence' and the Action on Hearing Loss 'Louder than Words' Charter Marks.

College Chief Executive, Mr Brian Doran, commented:

As part of our commitment to supporting and delivering education and training to those with disabilities and learning difficulties, the Southern Regional College has been working on a sensory engagement project for two years looking at how we address the needs of deaf, hard of hearing, blind and partially-sighted learners and staff. A Working Group, led by Assistant Director, Mr Jasper McKinney, carefully considered all the recommendations from RNIB and Action on Hearing Loss and we are all very proud to have come through the final assessment resulting in the achievement of both Charter Marks.

In addition to these two awards, the College also secured the Matrix Quality Standard for careers education, information, advice and guidance service. The Matrix Quality Standard is awarded to organisations that are deemed to have outstanding advice and support services for learners and prospective student.

Achieving the Matrix Quality Standard is testament to the excellent work carried out by the careers team here at Southern Regional College. I am absolutely delighted that the careers education, information, advice and guidance we provide has been recognised as being of the very highest quality.

The event to celebrate the awards was held on the Newry campus of SRC and was attended by representatives from sensory engagement working groups, those from the awarding organisations, council, representatives from the Department for Employment and Learning and staff at SRC.
