SRC Sports Lecturer Mark Copeland is embarking on seven marathons in 2017 in aid of Southern Area Hospice. Mark is the Course Coordinator for the Foundation Degree in Sport,Exercise and Fitness.
Mark, who is a member of Newry City Runners Club, has already completed the Staplestown marathon, and will compete in the London Marathon on 23rd April. He then intends to do: Belfast, Omagh, Newry, Walled City Marathon and New York before the end of the year.
Southern Area Hospice provides invaluable support and care to people living in the Southern Area Trust Area who are suffering from Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and other terminal illnesses. They provide ongoing respite care and activities for patients whose symptoms are controlled but who wish to avail of further medical, nursing and physiotherapy care. The Hospice costs £6,849 a day to run, so it is a very worthwhile cause.
Mark has already raised £2500 for the Hospice, and wants to raise another £3000 so if you can, read his story, and donate what you can:
We will be keeping you up to date with Mark's progress throughout this year as he embarks on this great challenge.
