SRC NOTICE (Updated Wednesday 13th January 2021)

The College reopened on 4th January in line with guidance issued by the Department for the Economy. The College will remain open, with the majority of teaching delivered online until after the mid-term break (22nd February).

BTEC AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS EXAMINATIONS
In light of the ongoing Covid situation, the College has taken the decision to postpone all BTEC and Essential Skills exams scheduled to take place in January and February. In line with the Minister’s statement on 6th January, no student will be disadvantaged as a result of this decision and further information on assessment arrangements will be provided as soon as possible.

WORK BASED LEARNING – TRAINING FOR SUCCESS (TfS) AND APPRENTICESHIPS
From 14th January the College will further limit the number of TFS and apprentices required to come onsite. All TfS and Apprenticeship training programmes will move to remote learning to the maximum extent possible. It will only be in exceptional circumstances that trainees/apprentices will be required to come onsite and this is likely to be limited to assessment and examinations that cannot be delayed to later in the year. Should you be required to come onsite your Course Co-ordinator will inform you accordingly, so please maintain contact with the College and your lecturers.

PART-TIME/EVENING COURSES
Some part-time courses due to start in January/February may be postponed and those enrolled will be notified with an alternative start date. Some existing part-time courses will revert to online delivery (or be suspended until mid-February) and students will be informed as to the nature of their course delivery.

STUDENT SUPPORT
Learning Resource Centres remain open to students unable to access online lessons from home. Student services and limited canteen facilities are also available to students during this period. Student queries should be directed to Course Co-ordinators. General queries should be emailed to info@src.ac.uk

Banbridge Campus

Banbridge Campus - Estates Strategy

New Banbridge Campus - Opened 2020

The new campus at Banbridge opened its doors to welcome its first cohort of students in September 2020. The state-of-the-art building features approximately 4,500 sq.m. of outstanding new learning facilities, including a dedicated Learning Resource Centre and an innovation hub.

The new campus is a designated Centre for Multimedia and Digital Design, promoting learning excellence and skills development with the latest technology and educational resources, offering a wide range of full-time and part-time courses through to degree level. The Centre for Multimedia and Digital Design will enable students to experience a real working environment within this sector, working on live industrial design briefs and projects which reflect best practice in this field of expertise.

Our construction journey began when the new campus project was granted full planning permission in 2017 with a cost of up to £15m to complete.

In March 2018, the College received formal notification of the new build’s funding arrangements from the Department for the Economy ensuring that the new multi-million pounds educational campus remained on track for completion in 2020.

The principal contractor for the new Banbridge Campus was O’Hare & McGovern Ltd. and were appointed in October 2018, creating 150 jobs onsite. During the construction phase of this project, the existing curriculum and student service delivery remained in the old campus building as the new campus was being developed on the existing site. The construction of this campus was completed on time, on budget whilst facing many challenges which included the COVID-19 global pandemic.
