On Monday 21st February, SRC IT and Engineering Level 3 students welcomed special guests Grainne Mulgrew and Amy McKeown from Re-Gen Robotics to Newry West Campus!

Grainne and Amy provided the students with an in-depth overview of the company and outlined how robotic tank cleaning is leading the way within the oil and gas industry.

Re-Gen Robotics is the first and only Zone 0 EX certified, remote-controlled, ‘No Man Entry’ robotic tank cleaning company in the UK and Europe. Their business model solves all problems of safety, manpower, time and effective utilisation of resources connected with cleaning of oil tanks.

This opportunity allowed students to enhance their project-based learning experience, learn about future career opportunities and acknowledge the importance of how the theory and skills taught in SRC can be applied within industries. Students also got the chance to see images of the robotic equipment, watch video clips on how the process works and ask burning questions!

The College would like to extend their thanks to Grainne and Amy for their engagement and permitting this opportunity to take place. It is evident that Re-Gen Robotics have an ambitious future ahead and we look forward to hearing about their successes!
