Skill Up
Skill Up is supported by the Skills Fund which delivers the Economy Minister’s Economic Vision. The programme allows participants to avail of free courses to enhance their skillset or reskill in a new area. As of 31 March 2026, Skill Up courses for the academic year 2025/26 have completed. Any further course delivery through Skill Up will be decided following a programme evaluation by the Department for the Economy.
Southern Regional College has offered a range of Skill Up programmes which aim to support learners to improve their skills to support local industry. Examples of Skill Up courses previously delivered by Southern Regional College include:

- Healthcare Practice
- Cyber Security
- Data Analytics
- Effective Coaching & Mentoring
- Early Years Education
- Leadership & Management
- Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems
- Programmable Logic Controllers
Eligibility for Skill Up courses
Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before the course start date.
Applicants must have a right to work and undertake training in the UK at the point of application and for the duration of the course. Proof of this will be required to progress application. See government guidance on proving your right to work.
If required, applicants must be available to register in person at a SRC campus.

Documentation confirming eligibility of the above criteria will be requested prior to securing a place on the course.
Candidates are permitted to complete a maximum of two free courses at a time with any Skill Up provider and must be available to attend class during published class times. Places on Skill Up courses are limited and course dates are subject to change. Minimum numbers will be required for a course to run. Please note that all Skill Up courses are also subject to funding confirmation.
