OVERVIEW

IT security is paramount to organizations as cloud computing and mobile devices have changed the way we do business. With the massive amounts of data transmitted and stored on networks throughout the world, it’s essential to have effective security practices in place.

That’s where CompTIA Security+ comes in. Get the Security+ certification to show that you have the skills to secure a network and deter hackers and you’re ready for the job.

Successful candidates will have the knowledge required to:

  • Identify risk
  • Participate in risk mitigation activities
  • Provide infrastructure, application, information and operational security
  • Apply security controls to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability
  • Identify appropriate technologies and products
  • Troubleshoot security events and incidents
  • Operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws and regulations

SRC is a test centre for all of our CompTIA certifications and overseen by PearsonVUE.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of CompTIA A+

PROGRESSION

There are a wide range of job roles in the IT security field including: security architect, security engineer, security/system administrator, network administrator. As well as being a useful support to those roles, the certification can also be useful for those in careers that require specialist security knowledge, such as database, networking or programming.

IMPORTANT COURSE & DELIVERY STATEMENT

In light of the continuing Covid-19 situation, Southern Regional College may have to amend the delivery methods for a number of courses for the new academic year, or should the need arise effect a temporary College closure. This may also lead to restrictions when accessing student services. Please be assured that the safety of our students is paramount and as such we will be implementing a range of measures in line with government advice and protocols. We will make all appropriate and reasonable adjustments to maintain the ongoing quality of teaching and learning and our support services.

In accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you will be notified of any such changes, the reasons for the changes and any options available to you to avoid such changes having an adverse impact on your future career. CONCESSION

Concession Fees may be available to students enrolling on Further Education courses who are in receipt of any of the following benefits: Universal Credit (net income below £14,000) Guaranteed Pension Credit / Housing Benefit (Rates Rebate) or Rate Relief/ Working Tax Credit (where household income is £16,190 or below/ In-come based Employment and Support Allowance Income Support/ In-come based Jobseekers Allowance/ Republic of Ireland means tested benefit. All exam/material fees must be paid in addition to the concession fee.

Registration, materials and certificate fees (subject to charge by the awarding body) are payable where shown at enrolment. All courses are subject to satisfactory enrolment numbers being achieved and sustained throughout the year. A student will be offered a refund of fees where a course is cancelled by the College or where a student does not attend their course of study. However, a £20 administrative fee will be imposed on a student who is unable to attend a course and does not give the College a minimum of 5 working days' notice before the course commences. A refund is not available to anyone who leaves a course after making one or more attendances.
