Inspiring Futures: Course Guidance Sessions in Schools

Southern Regional College staff can provide tailored course guidance sessions in local and regional grammar and secondary schools, supporting students at all stages of their educational journey. Our team delivers engaging presentations on topics such as career pathways, subject choices at further education and apprenticeship level and higher education opportunities including higher level apprenticeships; all designed to inform and inspire. By working closely with teachers and school staff, we ensure our sessions align with the needs and interests of each age group. These interactions help students build confidence, raise aspirations, and make informed decisions about their futures, while also strengthening our connection with the wider educational community.

We can support them to make informed decisions when transitioning from school into Further Education (FE), Apprenticeships or Higher Education (HE). We welcome the opportunity to visit your school to deliver a personalised presentation to support your students in making considered choices about their next steps.

Southern Regional College offers a vast range of structured, practical and academic courses that can lead to a fulfilling career. We have over 600 courses to choose from in a wide range of subject areas and are confident we have a course to suit every preference.
: Our sessions provide impartial, up-to-date information on post-16 and post-18 options, helping students understand the full range of routes available to them. You can choose from one of the following options.
Insight into Further Education (FE) and Apprenticeships: Learn about the wide variety of full-time courses and apprenticeships available at level 2 and level 3. This session is aimed at those in Years 11 & 12 but you are more than welcome to book a session for Year 10 students who are considering their GCSE subjects as a way to focus their thinking on future careers.
Explore Higher Education (HE): During this session we will help your students to understand the university level equivalent pathways offered at SRC including Foundation Degrees leading to Top Up Degrees and Higher Level Apprenticeships. We will discuss all full-time and part-time options and explain why studying HE at College can be the perfect option for many students. This session is aimed at Year 13 & 14 students.

We will help guide your students to explore their interests, strengths, and aspirations, while giving clarity on course choices, entry requirements, and progression opportunities. Sessions will also include practical advice on applications and next steps.
: We will tailor our presentation at a level to suit your students and match their unique needs. Our outreach team consists of careers and recruitment professionals who will offer insights on potential career pathways and the qualifications needed to achieve these.
