Overview

This course is designed to give business leaders and decision-makers a practical understanding of Artificial Intelligence and how it can be used to improve organisations. You do not need to be a programmer or an AI developer; the focus is on understanding the opportunities, risks and strategic implications of AI for business.

The course considers how leaders can decide where AI can add genuine business value, how AI initiatives can be aligned with organisational objectives, and what factors such as leadership, data, infrastructure, staff skills and organisational culture can mean for successful adoption.

A particularly current element of the course is AI agents and Agentic AI. You will examine the difference between co-pilots, assistants and agents and consider how organisations can delegate appropriate tasks to AI while establishing suitable controls, human oversight and measures of return on investment.

You will also examine responsible AI and governance, including bias, privacy, transparency, accountability and risk management, together with the regulatory and legal landscape surrounding AI.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or over and should have GCSE Mathematics and English, or equivalent.

Applicants should also normally also have either:

A Level 3 qualification, or
Experience in a decision-making or leadership role within their organisation.

This course is particularly suitable for managers, team leaders, business professionals and others who are involved in decisions around the adoption and use of Artificial Intelligence within their organisation. It is also suitable for those wishing to develop the knowledge and skills required for roles involving AI and digital transformation.

AI tools and co-pilots for workplace productivity
Using AI for document summarisation, email drafting, data insights and meeting summaries

There are no traditional examinations specified for this qualification. Assessment is carried out internally and is designed to allow you to demonstrate your understanding and apply what you have learned to realistic business situations.

You will develop a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement of the course learning outcomes. Assessment activities may include:

Practical demonstrations and assignments
Coursework and projects
Written work
Learner logs or diaries
Observations and discussions
Electronic portfolios and e-assessment

The emphasis is on applying your knowledge to real-world situations, making the assessment particularly relevant to those already working within business or management environments.

The qualification is graded on a Pass/Fail basis.

Successful completion of this Level 4 qualification provides a progression route into higher-level study in Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation and related technologies.
