Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques is an advanced qualification designed for learners who want to build upon their existing beauty skills and develop the expertise required to work as a fully qualified beauty therapist. This course offers an in-depth understanding of advanced beauty treatments, client care, and professional salon practice — combining practical, theoretical, and business-focused learning to prepare learners for a successful career in the beauty, spa, or wellness industry.

Through hands-on training and real client experience, learners will refine their technical abilities, gain confidence in performing complex treatments, and explore the latest industry trends and technologies.

Throughout the diploma, participants will delve into advanced beauty therapy techniques, including skincare treatments, body therapies, spa therapies, and specialised salon services. They will develop their proficiency in delivering high-quality services, mastering advanced techniques, and catering to diverse client needs. Participants will refine their practical skills, gain a deeper understanding of product formulations, and learn about emerging trends in the beauty industry.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age on or before 1st July in the year of proposed entry to the course and have recently been in education to key stage 4 (completion of compulsory education).
The College will review the qualifications and/or experience held by applicants and will consider whether this profile shows an ability to progress towards a level 3 qualification.
Applicants must have achieved the following:

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma in a related area e.g. Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or
A NVQ Level 2 in relevant subject area e.g. Beauty Therapy

Attendance at Individual or Group Pre-Entry Advice Sessions (IPEAS and GPEAS) may be required. These interviews may take place either on campus, via telephone or video call (Microsoft teams) and will play an important role in the selection of all courses.
Applicants who do not possess GCSE English Language at Grade C or higher (or equivalent) must be able to demonstrate as part of their application they can communicate in written and spoken English language to an acceptable level to succeed in the course. The College reserves the right to refer any applicant to appropriate English language or literacy classes until their level of fluency in written and spoken English is sufficient to allow participation in other areas of study.
Students entering a full time Level 3 programme are expected to have already achieved a minimum of GCSE Grade C in English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent qualification). Applicants admitted to a full-time programme of study without these qualifications in will be required to undertake an Essential Skills course in Literacy and Numeracy.

Working with colleagues within the beauty related industries
Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
Client care and communication in beauty related industries
Promote and sell products and services to clients
Provide body massage
Provide facial electrotherapy treatments
Provide body electrotherapy treatments
Provide Indian head massage
Apply stone therapy massage
Employability unit

Assessment in the diploma is based on a combination of practical assessments and summative assessments to demonstrate competence in practical skills and underpinning knowledge. Participants will demonstrate their skills in performing advanced beauty treatments, such as advanced facials, body therapies, and specialised massage techniques. Written assessment will test their knowledge of advanced beauty therapy techniques, product formulations, and salon business management. Regular feedback and guidance from instructors will support their learning and progression throughout the programme.

Students will be required to purchase a kit and uniform. Full details will be communicated prior to course commencement.

Learners can progress to a range of higher qualifications to deepen their technical expertise and expand their career options. Popular routes include Salon Management, Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments, Advanced Skincare and Aesthetic Practices, Holistic Therapies and Micropigmentation or Semi-Permanent Makeup.

Upon successful completion of the Beauty Therapy Techniques Level 3 Diploma, participants will have acquired the advanced skills and knowledge required to pursue a range of specialised roles in the beauty industry. Graduates may find employment in:

High-end beauty salons
Wellness resorts
Luxury spas, providing advanced beauty treatments and personalised services to clients
Self employment by starting their own beauty business or offering specialised beauty consultancy services.
