Overview

This course falls under the South East Cross Border alliance (SECBA). A project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

The Level 5 Certificate in Chromatography and Spectroscopy Analysis is a specialised programme designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the field of analytical chemistry. This certificate course focuses specifically on the principles, techniques, and applications of chromatography and spectroscopy in chemical analysis.

The curriculum covers a wide range of topics relevant to chromatography and spectroscopy analysis. Students will learn about sample preparation techniques, instrument calibration, data interpretation, and quality control in analytical chemistry. They will also explore advanced concepts such as method development, validation, and troubleshooting in chromatographic and spectroscopic analysis.

Applicants should have achieved

At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (please upload official certificates on the SRC application portal); AND
A level 3 qualification in a science or science related discipline (please upload official certificates on the SRC application portal)

Candidates without the above qualifications can alternatively have achieved:

A level 2 qualification in two sciences (upload both official certificates on the SRC application portal) and in addition have at least one year’s experience in a science related occupation. (Please upload an email from your line manager confirming that you meet this criteria)

The objectives of the OCN NI Level 5 Certificate in Chromatography and Spectroscopy Analysis are to enable learners to be able to carry out the following analysis techniques:

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
Mass spectra
Combustion
Nuclear magnetic resonance
Molecular structure elucidation for organic molecules
High performance liquid chromatography

This qualification is assessed internally through assignment based work.
