Overview

A Beginners Guide to Working in a Live Environment

This course is aimed at musicians and music creators who are interested in working in a live environment such as theatres, churches or outdoor concerts. Learners will discover the key equipment used and understand how to plan, set up and mix sound for a live venue.

Applicants should be a practicing musician or producer.
This course requires a basic understanding of music to enable effective use of the facilities.
This course is a suitable support for A-Level and GCSE music students.
Applicants should be aged 16 or above.

Areas covered include:

Planning for the event
Appropriate equipment for the venue
Setting up and taking down equipment
Mixing live sound

All assessment for this course is through coursework.

Learners can progress to:

Level 3 Recording Studio 301 (part-time)
Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production (full-time)
Level 5 Foundation Degree in Creative Music and Audio Production (full-time)
Level 6 Top-up Degree in Creative Music and Audio Production (part-time)

This course will enable individuals to pursue various job roles within the creative arts and digital technologies industry.
