Overview

This course is fully funded as part of the GRASP Peace Plus and SEUPB Programme.

This qualification in Solar Photovoltaic (PV) provides an understanding of PV systems with a view to applying for Competent Persons, Micro-Generation Scheme. The course is designed in accordance with the latest NOS/QCF criteria and MCS scheme requirements to provide the necessary skills for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, servicing and fault finding of solar photovoltaic systems.

To be eligible, applicants must have achieved a Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification, and want to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Applicants must want to learn new skills and enhance their understanding of Solar Photovoltaic (PV).

The qualification covers

key documentation and legislation in relation to design and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV)
safety features of solar PV electrical systems
characteristics of solar PV systems, components and architectures
design and installation considerations solar PV systems
elements of testing, commission and handover solar PV systems
understanding of the use of micro-generation and EESS as part of prosumer’s electrical installations

Candidates will be assessed by on-demand multiple choice tests (available through the City & Guilds assessment platform e-volve) and practical assignments.
