Overview

This course falls under the South East Cross Border alliance (SECBA) which is a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)

Unlock the world of coding with this hands-on introduction to programming using Python. Designed for beginners, this course provides a solid foundation in the core principles of programming and problem-solving. Leaners will learn how to write, test, and debug simple programs while developing the logical thinking and creativity needed to tackle real-world computing challenges.

Through practical exercises and guided projects learners will be able to recognise and write syntactically correct Python code, recognise data types supported by Python, and be able to recognise and write Python code that will logically solve a given problem.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however basic programming skills would be advantageous.

Explore programming languages and their uses
Develop, test, and debug software solutions
Understand the full software development lifecycle
Build confidence in practical coding environments

Assessment within this course will be through development of a portfolio.

After completing this course, learners can progress to more advanced or specialised study in computing and/or programming. These courses will build on the foundational coding and problem-solving skills developed on this programme, introducing more complex programming languages, data structures, and software design concepts.

For those aiming to enter the workforce or develop technical skills for a current role, this course provides a stepping stone to roles such as junior or trainee software developer roles, or IT support or technical assistant positions.
