Overview

The OCN NI Award in Outdoor Play and Learning has been designed to enable the learner to understand the value of outdoor play for children’s learning and development and be able to promote, plan and deliver effective outdoor play activities.

The objectives of the qualification are to enable learners to:

Recognise the value of outdoor play.
Know how to support outdoor play.
Understand appropriate practice in the promotion of inclusive outdoor play.
Plan and deliver an effective outdoor play activity.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Know how to support outdoor play
Understand appropriate practice in the promotion of inclusive outdoor play
Plan and deliver an effective outdoor play activity

Assessment will be through completion of written assessments. Grading for this qualification is Pass/Fail.

The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Outdoor Play and Learning will allow learners to progress to other OCN NI qualifications in the areas of learning and development or early years including the OCN NI Level 3 Award in Working with Children and Young People with Special Needs.
