Overview

Important Note

This course is 90% funded by the Department for the Economy and 10% paid by the employer as part of the Skills Focus Programme. To qualify, your business or social enterprise must have less than 250 employees and you must be based in Northern Ireland and operate for profit.

The OCN NI Level 4 Award in Social Media and Digital Marketing aims to develop knowledge and skills in the use of internet and communications technologies for marketing activities and management of the use of social media within organisations.

With the increased use of communication technologies, many companies are taking advantage of social media and digital marketing approaches to promote and market their products and services. Throughout the course, participants will explore the evolving landscape of social media and digital marketing. They will gain a deep understanding of the various social media platforms and their unique features, as well as the principles of effective digital marketing campaigns. Participants will learn how to develop a comprehensive social media strategy, create engaging content, and utilise data-driven insights to optimise marketing efforts.

The objectives of the OCN NI Level 4 Award in Social Media and Digital Marketing are to enable learners to:

Understand the use of social media and the associated risks
Understand how digital marketing and social media may be integrated into business planning
Be able to use a digital marketing strategy to develop a digital marketing plan
Understand the use of websites for marketing
Be able to use social media for marketing and promotion

Applicants should have achieved:

Level 2 in Social Media (please upload official certificates to the SRC application portal)

Alternatively if you do not hold the level 2 you should:

Be able to provide evidence of managing (editing and posting) a business/charity page

Upon receipt of your application and uploaded evidence, you will be invited to attend an online Pre-Enrolment Advice Session. It is essential that you attend this session.

The course covers a range of topics related to social media and digital marketing. Participants will explore social media management tools, analytics platforms, and advertising options to effectively measure and evaluate the success of their campaigns. They will study techniques for targeting specific audiences, conducting market research, and developing customer personas to inform marketing strategies. Participants will also gain insights into search engine optimisation (SEO), email marketing, influencer marketing, and the integration of social media with broader marketing strategies.

Grading for this qualification is pass/fail. Candidates will be required to undertake assignments to ensure all learning outcomes and assessment criteria are fully covered.

Learners may wish to undertake other marketing courses including professional qualifications or may wish to enrol on leadership and management courses offered at SRC.

Upon successful completion of the Social Media and Digital Marketing Level 4 Award, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to pursue a career in social media management, digital marketing, or related fields. They will be prepared to develop and execute effective social media strategies, manage online communities, and analyse campaign performance. Graduates may find employment opportunities in marketing agencies, social media management firms, e-commerce companies, or choose to work as independent digital marketing consultants.
