The BA (Hons) in History and English Literature team hosted their 8th annual ICAS conference on 27th and 28th January, where they discussed the theme of ‘Aesthetic Engagement with Public Spaces’ with over 80 delegates across the weekend.

The event included keynote papers by Prof. Paul Gough entitled ‘The Banksy Bonus?: Urban Art and the dynamics of infringement, ownership, and authenticity' and Prof. Bill Rolston on the historical evolution of mural art in Northern Ireland.

Both keynote speakers held fascinating panel debates, which included subject specialists from archaeology, street art and social history. Delegates were offered tours to explore the Dundalk murals and An Tobar wellness centre and social farm in Silverbridge. The event closed with Stephen Wilson’s talk on his 'Peace Wall Stories' project.
