On Wednesday 5th May, Sylvia Moorhead, Head of Business Skills & Economic Engagement, was invited to speak on a panel at Women in Business’ Just Connect event held in Armagh City Hotel.

Sylvia was joined by Laura Moore, founder of Laura Loves Learning, an Early Years Specialist & Consultant who works with nurseries, schools, corporate networks and families across the UK and beyond and Caroline Chan, a photographer specialising in brand, portrait and event photography.

The panel featured an interesting discussion on each career journey and Sylvia had the opportunity to highlight the changes in skills and workforce development within Further and Higher Education since joining the College in 2006, which focused on the growing demand for apprentices and higher level apprentices across all industries and a variety of subject areas including Hospitality, Business and Digital Marketing.

The panel discussion further discussed the biggest gaps between education and industry needs whereby Sylvia recognised the need for further collaboration with Industry to highlight the range of supports available from SRC’s Business & Economic Engagement for businesses to upskill and reskill staff.
