Overview

This course is 90% funded by the Department for the Economy and 10% paid by the employer as part of the Skills Focus Programme. To qualify, your business or social enterprise must have less than 250 employees and you must be based in Northern Ireland and operate for profit.

The Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring is a highly regarded part-time professional qualification. Designed for managers, HR professionals, and internal coaches, it equips you with the advanced skills, frameworks, and practical experience needed to become a confident, independent coach or mentor.

Throughout the course, participants will explore the core principles and practices of coaching and mentoring. They will study areas such as coaching models, communication skills, active listening, questioning techniques, goal setting, feedback delivery, and establishing trust and rapport. Participants will gain insights into the psychological and emotional aspects of coaching and mentoring relationships and develop a deep understanding of the ethical considerations and boundaries involved.

The Level 5 Certificate covers both individual and team coaching and mentoring. Participants will learn techniques for coaching individuals to overcome challenges, enhance performance, and achieve personal and professional goals. They will also explore strategies for mentoring individuals by providing guidance, wisdom, and support based on their own experience and expertise. Participants will gain an understanding of the unique dynamics and skills required to coach and mentor teams, fostering collaboration, and achieving collective success.

You will be required to complete supervised coaching/mentoring sessions (minimum 18 hours), working with real clients to apply your learnings.

Attendance at Individual or Group Pre-Entry Advice Sessions (IPEAS and GPEAS) may be required. These interviews will take place on Microsoft Teams and will play an important role in the selection of all courses.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before 1st July in the year of proposed entry to the course.

Applicants must undertake 18 hours of coaching/mentoring in a workplace as part of qualification.
Applicants should have achieved a level 3 qualification through the completion of A-Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved qualifications.

The program covers the skills, principles, and practice of effective coaching and mentoring within an organisational context.
