Overview

The course is designed for those who wish to work in the HGV industry or for those who are currently working in HGV but require up-skilling and certification. It will also further extend the knowledge and ability of students wishing to continue their study in heavy vehicle mechanical maintenance and repair.

The course provides vocationally related knowledge and skills which will improve employability within these vocations. Successful completion of units or the full award can contribute to the achievement of a VCQ when vocationally employed.

Throughout the apprenticeship, participants will engage in a wide range of activities related to heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, component replacement, and compliance with safety regulations. Apprentices will learn about vehicle systems, engine technologies, electrical systems, braking systems, and hydraulic systems commonly found in heavy vehicles.
