Students from Southern Regional College Armagh campus are celebrating after securing honours at this year's Credit Union Art Competition, across multiple categories.

This year’s competition theme of "The Future Is" encouraged students to interpret and communicate their vision of what lies ahead. This resulted in an outstanding array of artwork, showing imagination and skills from these aspiring young artists.

The Art & Design Level 3 Extended Diploma provides students with the opportunity to engage in a wide range of artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, graphic design and sculpture. The curriculum emphasises experimentation and innovation, encouraging learners to develop a personal style, which has been recognised by Armagh Credit Union. Art & Design Lecturer Shirley Smylie was delighted with students’ success in the competition.

First Place winner Bridin Loughran will now progress to the regional stage of the Credit Union competition and showcase the creative potential of the digital media programme.

Creative Arts and Digital Technologies lecturer Mairead Duffy was thrilled with student’s results in the competition. The traineeship combines theoretical learning with hands-on training in various creative arts and digital media disciplines, from photography, event organisation, music ensemble, software imaging tools to creative writing skills, and much more. This competition success reflects students growing skills in the arts and digital technology sphere.

These achievements reflect the dedication, creativity, and hard work from both programmes offered at the College.
