Southern Regional College in collaboration with The James Kane Foundation launched the scholarship award in 2023 for Higher Education and Higher-Level Apprenticeship students living within the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council area.
Applications were open to any student from the ABC Council area studying a higher education course in specific areas. The scholarship will enable students to meet the additional costs incurred in pursuing a higher education course. The scholarship is awarded to successful students for a duration of up to two years.
Speaking on behalf of the James Kane Foundation, chairperson Michael Wilson commented:
“I was delighted to meet with students funded through the Foundation’s Scholarship scheme which aims to help students stay in further education and complete their courses in circumstances where this might not otherwise have been possible. The Foundation’s experience of this programme has been hugely positive and the engagement with the individual students has given us the opportunity to hear their stories and learn of their ambitions. We wish them all the best as they progress through and beyond their higher education studies.”
Mrs Lee Campbell, Principal & Chief Executive of Southern Regional College added:
“The James Kane Foundation offers students undertaking higher education courses very welcome additional financial support. As a College, we are thankful for the Foundation’s continued support of our students. Congratulations to all seven SRC students who successfully received the Scholarship this year. This achievement demonstrates their hard work, dedication, and passion for learning. At Southern Regional College, we are committed to nurturing talent and supporting our students as they strive for excellence”.
