Overview

The OCN NI Level 4 Diploma in Industrial Science will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to work competently and safely in accordance with appropriate regulation and guidelines in an industrial laboratory environment. It is ideal for learners who are currently working in or who wish to work in laboratory based occupations.

Learners will gain knowledge and skills in industrial laboratory techniques, applied chemistry for life and related sciences, pharmaceutical analytical quality control, applied mathematics for science and pharmaceutical industry regulation.

Learners should be at least 18 years old.
Learners must have achieved at least five GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths at Grade C or above.
Learners must have achieved either a level 3 qualification or a level 2 qualification with at least one year’s experience in a science related occupation.

Laboratory Skills for Industry
Chemistry for the Pharmaceutical and Life Science Industries
Pharmaceutical Analytical Quality Control and Analysis
Scientific Mathematics
Pharmaceutical Industry Regulation

Grading for this qualification is pass/fail.

Units are achieved through internally set, internally assessed, and internally verified evidence. Assessment methods include building a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstration or assignment, coursework and e-assessment.

The OCN NI Level 4 Diploma in Industrial Science will allow learners to progress to higher level qualifications in science and related areas. This includes the Foundation Degrees offered at SRC.

Graduates of the Industrial Science Level 4 Diploma will be well-prepared for entry-level to intermediate roles across manufacturing, processing, laboratory, and engineering environments. Typical job roles may include Technical & Laboratory, Manufacturing & Production, Engineering & Technical Support, Health, Safety & Compliance, Supply Chain & Operations and Field & Site-Based.
