SRC Attain Awards Recognition for Big Apprenticeship Events

Southern Regional College's Business Support and Innovation team have been rewarded with the Marketing Initiative Award at Greater Newry Area Business Awards held in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry. Michelle Billham and Sylvia Moorehead from Business Support and Innovation attended the event along with Chief Executive Brian Doran. The award was for the work on the Big Apprenticeship Events, held earlier this year at SRC in Portadown and Newry. The events promoted the range of new Higher Level Apprenticeship options available to A Level/Level 3 school leavers. It also provided information on the huge range of apprenticeship options on offer for those students completing their GCSEs.

Business Students Secure Personal Achievement Awards

Two students from BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business in SRC Newry were recognised for their achievement throughout their time in the college.
Lorcan Rafferty from Mullaghbawn was awarded Student of the Year and Gareth McMillan from Ballyholland was awarded with the Personal Achievement award. Both students were nominated by their personal tutor and lecturer Maeve McKeefry who believed they excelled within the course and their hard work and determination motivated the students around them to reach the best of their ability.

IT Students Achieve Duke of York Award

As part of their Level 3 Extended Diploma in Information Technology, 84 students from Southern Regional College Portadown Campus enrolled on the Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA) completing their Silver and Bronze award.

SRC Scientists in WorldSkills Success

Science students from Southern Regional College and North West Regional College, in association with Middlesex University, battled it out at the NI WorldSkills Regional Heat for Laboratory Technicians on the 4th June.

This was the first WorldSkills NI Regional Heat for Laboratory Technicians and was hosted at Southern Regional College, the Life Sciences Hub for Further Education in Northern Ireland. The NI Regional Heat winner was Southern Regional College student, Adam Purvis, who is currently completing the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Applied Industrial Sciences (Chemical Pathway) with Almac in Craigavon.
