Media and Film & TV students at Southern Regional College’s Banbridge campus welcomed a full audience to their joint end-of-year showcase on Tuesday 21 April 2026.
The event was entirely organised and delivered by students from the Media Level 3 Extended Diploma, who took responsibility for planning, coordination and execution across all aspects of the exhibition. Visitors experienced a diverse display of student work, including print projects, short films and documentaries developed throughout the academic year.
This year’s second-year media cohort, comprising of 18 students, produced an impressive body of work, including six short films and five documentaries. Projects explored a wide range of contemporary issues, from the impact of ME to the influence of AI on young people’s communication, learning and social interaction.
Producing this work required students to undertake extensive research and project management. Their responsibilities included developing concepts, conducting interviews, scouting and securing locations, completing risk assessments, obtaining release permissions, and carrying out filming, sound recording, editing and post-production.
To support the costs of hosting the exhibition, students engaged in fundraising activities throughout the year, while also raising money for a charity meaningful to them.
In addition to managing their own showcase, Media students collaborated closely with peers from the Film & TV HND course. They oversaw the printing and mounting of design work, produced showreels, and ensured all final projects were professionally presented for exhibition.
Gary Davidson, Media lecturer at Southern Regional College commented;
“I'm extremely proud of my students this year, they've done fantastically. Over the past two years, they have developed such a great set of creative and technical skills that allowed them to produce the brilliant moving image work on display tonight. Their ability to plan and deliver a public event of this scale is amazing. The professionalism and collaboration across both our Level 3 Media and HND Film courses has been outstanding.”
